New Comic Book Characters Art Ryan Reynolds As Green Lantern

My new comic book character painting is of Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. Work is in progress on a Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and Green Lantern. From what I understand the costume will actually be CG. It’ll be interesting to see how they pull that off.

This painting is based on the Entertainment Weekly cover that features Reynolds as Green Lantern. Like all of my paintings, this one was done in oils. I apologize for not having a break like I usually do from pencils to final product, but I was working on a commission at the same time I was doing this and it slipped my mind to get photos of the progress.

I have this painting up for sell on eBay. If you would like to buy it just click this Green Lantern link and check it out.

How did you do the glowing lines under his suit? Did you just use a light acrylic and then paint over with oil and never touch the lines?

I'm working on an oil painting of Green Lantern as well only it's from the recent trailer.

Hey Kendra, I did a light green color and then added some white to that. I hope that answers your question and good luck with your painting.

I like the art, and definitely want to see Reynolds as Green Lantern. Been a fan of Green Lantern for a long time.

Hello Michael,
Amazing painting!
Also, loved the name of your blog. I too am on a bit of a quest to make a living doing the art thing that I love. Totally different to yours, but same mission. Great to see people in the "quest to make what I love a success" tribe.

bethanstritton, thanks for the comment and good luck on your quest.
