Comic Book Character Drawing Of Wolverine

This is my latest comic book character sketch card drawing. It is of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine from X-men Origins. I have this sketch card up for sale right now on eBay so if you’re interested in owning this sketch card head on over there and make you’re bid.

Below is a video of me actually creating the Wolverine sketch card. This is my first live video of me doing one of my comic book character artwork instead of using photos. This is a very edited version of the whole video. I’m planning on offering a limited edit video, which shows everything including mistakes and corrections as a download and on DVD. I’ll have more information on that as soon as I decide if I’m going to do it or not.

Below is a video of how I created The Three Jokers paintings. I hope you enjoy it.

Ironman - My First Comic Book Superhero Sketch Card Painting

This Ironman painting is my first comic book superhero sketch card painting. Actually I guess it would be considered more as an ACEO. Anyway it is 2.5”x3.5” and is the Ironman from movie. It was a little bit of a challenge doing a painting this small, but also fun to do. I like the way this turned out because I was able to capture the metallic look.

This Tony Stark sketch card is also from the Ironman movie with Robert Downey portraying Tony Stark. This card is for sale so if you would be interested in owning it feel free to contact me at mbridges54@gmail.com or visit my Sketch Card – ACEO site where you can find more of my sketch cards and ACEOs.

If you have been around here for awhile you know that besides working on the Green Lantern and She Hulk commissions I have been working on a “Three Jokers” painting which features DC Comic’s character and Batman’s arch enemy The Joker.

The painting is of the three men who have portrayed The Joker on TV and in the movies. Jack Nicholson from the first Tim Burton Batman movie, Cesar Romero from the Batman series and Heath Ledger from the “Dark Knight” movie.

You can see the progression of this painting at my Superhero Portraits website. So if you get the chance go check it out.

She Hulk Commission Final Stage

I am now on a roll. I finished the She Hulk painting and the buyer has approved it. Now all that’s left to do is ship the painting. Just like with the buyer of the Green Lantern commission, the buyer says he will have another commission done, but didn’t mention when.

Green Lantern Commission Painting Final Stage

Well, this painting is finished and ready to ship out to the buyer. He was very satisfied with the results and says he well commission another one in a couple of months. Now that’s what I like to hear.

Like I said before I enjoyed doing this Green Lantern painting because of the action in it and I do what to do more paintings like this.

She Hulk Commission Stage 4

The She Hulk painting is really coming together now. I will have to tighten the figure up some more and work on the background also. As I said before, the challenge of doing this comic book character commission was that I didn’t have a model to work from. I just sort of used a couple of photos to composite this painting together.

I have to now send the painting to the buyer and see if he might want any changes.

Green Lantern Commission Painting Stage 4

I am getting close to finishing this painting. I will be putting some stars in the background, a glow around Green Lantern and Sinistro and doing some touch-ups. I’m waiting now to see if the buyer approves this stage of the painting.

This comic book superhero painting was fun to do because it has more action than other comic book character paintings I have done. I plan to do more of this kind of work in the future.

One Of My Other Comic Book Characters Commission

I am still working on the next stages of my She Hulk and Green Lantern commissions, so until I get those posted here’s a progression of one of my other commissions.

I have done several commissions for the guy that wanted me to do this commission of an anime character named Sue. Sue apparently is a wrestler. This guy apparently loves female wrestler characters because he had do several paintings of them most of which was characters he created. The picture to the left is the character he wanted me to do and the one below is the model he wanted me to use.

The pictures below are the sketch I did and the pencils on canvas.

Below are the flat colors stage and the finished product. The buyer wanted the ring ropes added in the background.

Update On My Three Jokers Painting

While you’re waiting for my next Green Lantern and She Hulk commission posts, I wanted to show you where I am with my “Three Jokers” painting. I have put in the background oils and will be working on the figures next.

As I said in an earlier post this painting is of the three men that have portrayed the Joker. Cesar Romero from the Batman series, Jack Nicholson from the first Tim Burton Batman movie and last but certainly not least Heath Ledger from the “Dark Knight” movie.

I am running the progression of this painting at my Superhero Portraits website. Check it out.

She Hulk Commission Stage 3

I have added the oils to the background with a yellow glow surrounding the She Hulk graduating out to a dark green color. This represents gamma radiation coming from her. Plus it gives the painting a more dramatic feeling. After this dries I will start working on the figure.

While I wait for this to dry I’ll be working on the Green Lantern vs Sinistro commission.

She Hulk Commission Stage 2

This is the flat colors stage for the She Hulk painting. Once again I do this to let me know where everything is. The buyer wanted a wanted the She Hulk to be a light green as if in mid transformation and kind of reminiscent of the 1980s version. He also wanted her to be wearing a pink nightgown. When I start the oils on this one the background will be yellow going out into a dark green.

She Hulk Commission

As I mentioned yesterday, I just got a commission to do the She Hulk. The buyer wants me to do her in mid transformation with her looking down in surprise that she’s changing now. To the left is the sketch I did for the painting, which the buyer approved.

I then blew up the sketch on the canvas, which is below. The challenge of this painting is that I won’t have a model to use for it so I have to use a few photos to see how certain things look. At this point I am now working on two commissions for comic book characters.

Green Lantern Commission Painting Stage 3

Okay, now I’m doing the oils. I start with the background because that will affect the color of Green Lantern and Sinistro. The background is still a little flat, but I will add more detail on the background when it dries.

At this point I think the painting is coming along pretty good. I will e-mail it to the buyer once I get the details on to see what he thinks.

I just got a commission to do the She Hulk so I will be posting that here also.

Green Lantern Commission Painting Stage 2

At this stage I want to see what is what so I use flat colors to separate all the objects. I’m using acrylics at this stage because I want this to dry fast so I can get started with the oil paints.

I plan to have a slight glow around the Green Lantern and Sinistro, but I had forgot while I was doing the background and had put the background upon part of the figuresuntil it hit me about the glow. That is why the glow around the figures look so strange.

Next I will add the oils to the background so watch out for that.

Green Lantern Commission Painting

Yesterday I mentioned that I got a commission to do a Green Lantern painting. The picture to the left is what the buyer wanted me to use as a model for the painting, but he wanted an outer space background so put together the composite you see below.

Below is my pencil sketch on the canvas. Next I will work on the flat colors to separate everything out. Watch for that on tomorrow’s post as I continue to show this Green Lantern painting in progress.
