Get Your Portrait Done At ICanMakeYouArt

I’m not going to talk about my art today. Today I want to tell you where you can get your portrait done in a comic book art style like Liechtenstein or a pop art style. The name of the place is IcanMakeYouArt.co.uk.

It’s real easy to get your portrait done on canvas here. All you have to do is submit a photo you what as a portrait. The portrait is then illustrated and when you approve it, it is printed on canvas and you receive it the next day. So go get your pop art portrait done at IcanMakeYouArt.co.uk.

Self Publishing Your Own Comic Book

Yesterday I talk about getting your comic book characters out in the public eye by self-publishing. Today I going to give you some ideas on how to go about doing that.

Depending on whether you want to go digital or hard copy there may be a printing cost involved. If you go digital there are a couple of ways you can go. You can go the PDF route and publish your comic book as a downloadable PDF document. You publish your comic as an online book by showing the pages of your book as web pages on your website.

If you decide to go hard copy you will be looking at printing cost. There are a copy of ways you can do hard copy publishing. Lets look at the magazine hard copy. With this option you will need to find a print company that can print comic books. There are several online that specialize in it just do a search for comic book printers and you will see them.

Another hard copy option is comics on CD or DVD. This also counts as a digital option. You can do this a couple of ways. You can put your pages on the CD or DVD in a numbered order and the reader can click on the pages to read them in order. Another option is to set your pages as a slide show. Once your comic book CD is set up you can have it printed at a CD printer or you can do it yourself from your own computer and printer.

To sell your self published comics you can do it on your own website or a website that specialize in selling comics like Comic Space. This applies for both digital and hard copies. For hard copies you can also approach comic shops to see if they are willing to sell your comics there. You can offer them 30% to 50% of the sell price.

She Hulk Commission Stage 3

I have added the oils to the background with a yellow glow surrounding the She Hulk graduating out to a dark green color. This represents gamma radiation coming from her. Plus it gives the painting a more dramatic feeling. After this dries I will start working on the figure.

While I wait for this to dry I’ll be working on the Green Lantern vs Sinistro commission.

Comics By My Friend Troy Gillogly

I have known Troy Gillogly for about ten years. He, another friend of mine named Roy Dornbusch and I published a comic book back in 1997 called “Area 13”. Well, ten years later I’m still planning and working on ideas for other comic book projects and Troy has now published two projects, “Snuffy, The Vampire Rabbit” and “Wild Breed”.

Wild Breed is a project that Troy has had in the works since before I even knew him, which he has now brought to life. The story takes in medieval times with a demon setting the stage for his people, the Appolyons, to rule the kingdom of Asria. It is filled with interesting characters and a good story.

Snuffy, The Vampire Rabbit is about a hitman rabbit that is send on what he thinks is an ordinary hit job, but he soon finds out different. Snuffy discoveries that the man he is sent to kill is a vampire. Although he kills the vampire he is bitten and starts to go through some weird changes. Now, Snuffy is on a mission to find out if his boss knew the victim was a vampire and if he sent Snuffy there to be killed.

Both projects are out now, Snuffy with two issues done and Wild Breed with its first issue. All three books have great artwork. Although I have always been a big fan of Troy’s art, it’s still amazing to see how much he’s grown.

Jim Lee One Of The Best

I’m a comic book fan from way back. I go back to the hay days of Jack Kirby, Jim Steranko, Neal Adams and Steve Ditko just to name a few. There are some of today’s comic book artists that I like and one of the top ones is Jim Lee. He is one of those artists that seem to put a lot of thought and effort into his drawings.

His use of angles and perspective when he draws the human figure reminds me sometimes of Jim Streranko’s stuff back when he was doing “Nick Fury, Agent of Shield”. Jim has a great flair for dramatic poses and his backgrounds are simply fantastic. When you put Jim Lee’s pencils with Scott Williams inks you have yourself an unbeatable combination.

I’m not a big fan of Jim Lee’s writing, but I love his artwork so he goes down as one of my top favorites. Be sure to Check out his work. You can also see Jim Lee in action at my new Comic Book Video site.
